Service Description

Join us at KeKo Club on selected Saturday mornings from 10:00 am–12:00 pm for a relaxed, hands-on family pottery session. Children and their grown-ups will each receive natural clay and be invited to explore, experiment and create together. You might make a bowl, animal, little house, decorative plaque, keepsake or something completely from your own imagination. There is no pressure to make anything perfect. This session is all about spending meaningful time together, sharing ideas and enjoying the wonderfully messy experience of working with real clay. You will be gently guided through simple hand-building techniques, with plenty of tools, textures and inspiration available. Complete beginners are very welcome—no previous pottery experience is needed. What happens to your pottery? After the session, your creations will be carefully dried and bisque fired in our kiln. You can then choose one of two options: Let us finish your pottery Leave your pieces with us and we will apply a clear glaze before firing them for a second time. Your finished pottery will be ready to collect approximately four weeks after your making session. This option is included in your original booking price. Come back and decorate For an even more complete pottery experience, book an additional family decorating session within two weeks after making your pieces. During the decorating session, you can add colour, patterns and personality using our studio underglazes. We will then clear glaze and fire your pottery, ready for collection once it has completed its final journey through the kiln. Session details When: Selected Saturdays
Time: 10:00 am–12:00 pm
Location: KeKo Club Pottery Studio, Newport Pagnell, Milton Keynes
Making session: £20 per person
. Optional decorating session: £20 per person
. Experience level: Complete beginners welcome The making-session price includes natural clay, tuition, use of studio tools, bisque firing, clear glazing by the studio and final glaze firing. Every participating child must attend with a responsible grown-up. Grown-ups are encouraged to book a place and create alongside their child—the magic of this session is in making something together. Please remember that pottery is a slow process. Clay must be dried carefully and fired twice before it is ready to take home. Because every piece is handmade and firing involves very high temperatures, small changes, cracks or unexpected results can occasionally occur.
